Making Jesus #1

Before you begin to read this, just take a moment to reflect where you have neglected God in your life lately and just ask Him to fill up neglected space in your life with his never failing, all-consuming love.

I will meditate on your precepts,
and fix my eyes on your ways. -Psalms 119:15

For me, this school year has gone in full fledged busyness and i know that’s how it is for basically every teenager (and other busy person) on the face of the earth. We are so involved with academics, which are important, with extra curricular activities, which are also important, we are involved with just so many things that are all so important that we often forget about what is most important; JESUS.

The human mind plans the way,
but the Lord directs the steps. -Proverbs 16:9

With all the busyness in the world we get overwhelmed and over worked. We kinda just turn into robots with a silly routine and we often shut down. That is not what God wants. When we are shut down, that is the time we most need God, but certainly not the only. To live a life focused around Christ in a world that focuses on basically everything BUT Christ is a pretty difficult task to fulfill, however, not at all impossible.

It’s human nature to want to take control and be in charge of everything. To have everything perfectly lined up exactly how you in vision it, and in a perfect world, color coded. So here are a few ways you can be in control of something. In control of your relationship with Christ.

Here are some ways:

  • PRAY, PRAY, AND PRAY SOME MORE– pray while brushing your teeth, pray while riding your bike, pray while you’re bored. And just to clarify, to pray is simple just a “Hey God, thanks for ____.” Prayer is literally just you and God one-on-one and there is no way to mess up.
  • HAVE JESUS TIME- First, you must define what ‘Jesus Time’ is. For me, it is me with my journal, bible, and Jesus music in bed. That right there is simply one of my favorite things in the world. Make yourself some coffee and just chat with Jesus, because again, there is no way to go wrong.
  • REMINDERS– set alarms for Jesus. I have several prayer app alarms go off daily to take time and read scripture, or even just pray a simple Hail Mary. Set routines and make Jesus a habit, not a last resort.

Believe me, I’m not perfect and I fall into the trap of the world, but I write this as a way to further my relationship with Christ, and also yours. Which brings me into my next way to keep Christ #1.

  • HAVE FRIENDS WHO HELP YOU– make sure you have friends who are there to help you and push you along your spiritual journey. Have friends who will wake your spirituality up when you seem to have fallen asleep. Friends through Christ are the most important friends you will ever have, trust me.

Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.” – 1 Corinthians 15:33

Now, there are SO MANY ways to stay focused on Christ in the hustle bustle world we love in that I didn’t mention, but just these simple few can transform your life and your perspective on how important it is to never lose sight of Him through everything. It is up to you whether or not you want to make this relationship work, because God doesn’t need us. It’s harsh, but reality. We are the ones who need God.

Does God need us? No. Does God want us? Yes.

We are fools for Christ, but you are so wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are honored, we are dishonored! – 1 Corinthians 4:10

One question remains: Without God in our life, what are we living for?So with that said,  never stop depending on God.
