Gospel of the day: John 5:17-30
Hello, friends! Lent is already more than halfway over – crazy!
We often just go through the motions of Lent without thinking of its origin. We give up sweets, pray an extra Rosary, go to mass, we don’t eat meat on Fridays, and so on and so forth. But where does Lent come from?
“Even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.”13 Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.Who knows? He may turn and relent and leave behind a blessing— grain offerings and drink offerings for the LORD your God.”- Joel 2:12-14
Today instead of reading my blog, I would like you to watch this video. It talks about where Lent is in the Bible and clarifies the true meaning of this season of preparation for the Crucifixion of our Lord..
